The Air Hockey playbook
Use a short break to learn the rhythm of Air Hockey. Score seven goals before the computer. Keep the game area visible while you use its controls. Treat the first round as a chance to learn the controls. Use the example below to understand a decision.
Move your paddle against a computer opponent and score through the opposite goal.
Build familiarity through play
Before your first action, say what you are trying to achieve. Then compare the result with the goal. Keep the objective visible.
Your goal
Score seven goals before the computer. An attractive position is not enough unless the goal is met. Notice how the game responds to your input.
Step by step
- Start.
- Move your mallet within the lower half.
- Strike toward the upper goal.
- Goals reset the puck.
Controls
Mouse/touch movement or Left/Right controls. Read a button’s label before selecting it. Use the visible help when you are unsure of the next input.
Put the rules into context
An angled hit can bank off a side wall. Focus on why the action is allowed, not only its outcome. Verify the rule before continuing.
An important reminder
You cannot move into the computer’s half. Compare the situation with the worked example. Read one step at a time and try it on the playing area. Match the instruction to the control you use.
